What You Need To Know About PFAS Cancer

PFAS (perfluoroalkyl substances) are a group of man-made chemicals that are found in several consumer products including food wrappers, fast-food wrappers, and most importantly waterproof clothing.

PFASs can accumulate in the body and have been linked to cancer, obesity, and other serious issues. What are the health concerns?

There are a variety of health concerns associated with this chemical one of them is PFAS cancer. Studies have shown that exposure to PFASs can increase the risk of cancer, particularly tumors of the liver, thyroid, and kidney.

What can people do to protect themselves?

People can reduce their exposure to PFASs by avoiding products that contain them and by using water treatment systems that remove PFASs from water.

There are also other few things you can do to reduce your exposure to PFAS:

-Wash your clothes and linens regularly in cold water and vinegar or baking soda.

-Avoid cooking or heating food in plastic containers.

-Limit your exposure to PFOA and PFOS by avoiding these products and their use.

How does PFAS get in my body?

PFAS are found in many everyday products including food, water, and air. Over time, PFASs can bioaccumulate—that is, they can be stored in body tissues and organs where they can cause serious health problems because they can get into the bloodstream through the skin or lungs.
